ABOUT image
HELLO!  WELCOME!   I am so glad you are here!

Becoming a Licensed Clinical Social Worker is a second career for me.   Life does not have a “cookie cutter” plan for most people.  I am no exception to that.   In my early twenties, I obtained my bachelors in Business Administration.  Although I enjoyed business, my motivation was always helping and supporting people.  It took me a while to figure out what truly was in my heart.   That being said, I returned to school later in life to get my masters in what my passion is about.. people!

During my schooling I had two internships.  The first was in the Bloomfield Public School system as a school social worker at Carmen Arace Intermediate School.  I am so grateful for having this experience as it gave me a sense of what is happening is today’s school systems and how many pressures are on our children!

My second internship was at Middlesex Health Cancer Center.  This placement was more inline with my path. I have a lot of work experience in the medical field and it was more of natural fit.  During my time here, I learned how to help people with not only about the emotional turbulence cancer causes, but also the financial difficulty it creates as well.  Helping people through this difficult time was very impactful for me.

After graduating, I worked for a short period of time in Emergency Mobile Psychiatric Services (EMPS) for children.  Although I did not spend a long period of time at this job, boy did I learn!  Sadly, suicidality is very prevalent in today’s society.  I learned quickly how to work with people in this state. I am grateful for my time in this role, but it was not where I wanted to stay.

I returned to the medical field this time working in Nephrology (aka Dialysis).  It was here where I truly saw how chronic illness effects the lives of so many people.  Treating illnesses does not just take time, it takes your energy. In addition, it often creates a loss of “what was supposed to be”.. like the fun retirement or the time spent with grandchildren.  Lastly, if can create anxiety.  Many people feel they are waiting for the next shoe to drop!  Chronic illness creates many complex emotional responses that need extra support.

For the last couple of years, I applied all my knowledge and experience and went into private practice. I have truly loved this work!  Being able to help someone grow or over coming their emotional issues has been so rewarding!  Plus I enjoy being creative with my clients.  I work hard to find coping skills that match their individual personalities.

When I am not at work, I can be found at home with my husband, children, and doggies!   I also enjoy gardening, cooking, and learning new things!

What sets me apart from other therapists? image
Life can be rough. There are times you need to talk to someone who will listen, validate your feelings and experiences, and help to process your feelings so that you can find more balance and healing.  As a therapist, I strive to support my clients with warmth, compassion, and a sense of humor.

What sets me apart from other therapists? First, this is a second career for me.  I am a therapist with a lot of worldly experiences. I understand the different stages of life hold different stressors. Some periods of life are simply more complicated and difficult than others. No matter if it is raising young children,  searching for that perfect job after college, or taking care of an elderly parent, having the support from a therapist who understands can be so healing.

Next, I strive to provide an environment that is relaxed and welcoming.  My goal is to give you space to breath, be heard, and seen. You will not feel judged when you come to see me.  Everyone makes mistakes. No one is perfect.  After all, isn’t that what makes us human? I treat everyone with respect.  We all have our own journey to go on.  I would love to help you on yours.

Lastly, my style of therapy is collaborative. You come to me with what you want to work on.  Then, together, we will break it down into pieces and come up with a plan to tackle your problems. Sometimes this involve getting some “homework”.  Other times we will find humor in the situation. And still other times we will work on new coping skills to help alleviate your anxiety.   Just like each person has their own story, each person will get a unique plan that fits them.

I would be happy to have a free 15 minute consultation with you to see if we are a good match!

Congrats on taking your first step!  Please call or email me.   I will contact you and ask you a few questions to determine if my services are a good match for your needs.  I am also happy to answer any questions you have as well.
In your first session,  we will discuss what your goals are in therapy. I will also ask questions to get to know you better as an individual.  All this information is helpful for me to understand your needs, strengths, history, and supports.
I understand you want to help them take the first step.  However, therapy is about wanting to change and grow.  In order for me to know if they are truly ready to do this work, I require they make the phone call.
I am sorry to say that I am no longer taking couples.
Unfortunately, I do not.
I am happy to discuss private pay options.   The initial session is $175.  Sessions after that are $150 per hour.
I am a Certified Nephrology Social Worker.  Prior to going into private practice, I worked in a dialysis center for several years.  In addition to that, I interned as an Oncology Social Worker.  I am well versed in medical social worker and have worked with may people with illness and disabilaties.

I am very flexible if you need to switch between coming in person and having a telehealth session!
For in person, I am on the second floor so you would need to be able to do stairs.   However, I am happy to offer telehealth for those that have physical disabilities.
